A journey through places and encounters – toward simplicity.
My artistry, and indeed my life, rests upon a fundamental philosophy: to courageously and curiously embrace the present moment. It is about lingering in the sensation of the unexplored until it reaches understanding – and then constantly seeking the path toward simplification. For me, art is a living process that arises in the meeting between people and environments; a journey that has taken me from my roots in Uppsala, through the pulse of Stockholm, to the intensive light of Gotland, and today, to the vibrant colors of the Mediterranean in Malaga.
From a grandfather’s paintbox to international horizons
My artistic path began as a teenager when I inherited my grandfather’s paintbox – a treasure of unfinished panels, fragrant oil paints, and worn brushes. My career later took flight in Stockholm, where I operated my own gallery for a period. It was a formative time that gave me a deep understanding of the power of art, both as a social value and as a form of communication. Today, I divide my professional time between two contrasting yet equally inspiring worlds: the cool summers of Gotland and the intense winters of Malaga.
Shaping silence and society
Art is born in the encounter with new environments and people. Over the years, I have produced as many diverse works as I have had unique encounters. These settings leave distinct marks on my work; from the sands of Gotland and recycled materials, paintings and sculptures have emerged. Often, the goal is to capture the light, the peculiar calm, and the silence, but also to reflect the developments within Swedish society – as seen in art projects such as O’girl and Non Original.
In these varied environments, my creativity seeks the unique – a strive to strip away the redundant to find the essence of every emotion, every person, and every situation.
Art as a tool and a force
I believe unshakably that art makes a difference and serves as a tool for others. This conviction is the driving force behind my workshops and initiatives within health and well-being. Through concepts such as Art on Prescription, You are Creativity, What is Art?, and A Creative Day, I use the act of creation to open new doors for participants.
Strategic Creativity
In my role as an entrepreneur and artist, I have served as an artistic director and collaborated with the Swedish Agency for Economic and Regional Growth within the Cultural and Creative Industries (CCI). I also consult as a creative advisor for several of Sweden’s largest companies. In this capacity, I contribute my artistic perspective to help organizations broaden their horizons, strengthen their “corporate heart and culture,” and clarify their visual expression and identity.
Everything I do follows a few simple guiding principles: to curiously observe, to learn, to shape, and to convey.
